To save you all from pensive worry (is Mulder alive? Oh, the suspense...) this month's issue arrives just in time to take you off the edge of your seat and distract. Check out important Marathon and Fest information, along with our regular columnists who never fail to entertain. Cathy B even takes a break from ranting and does a fashion review. Yes, what I said. There's also a new game from crafty Scary Minnesota girls Chish and Beth, guaranteed to bring you hours of joy and fascination in that oddly disturbing way that only Minnesotan OBSSErs can provide. Please enjoy this very fun edition, and we'll see you in May! |

It's an exciting time of year here at the OBSSE. Even though The X-Files took a month off, the Abbey has been hard at work preparing for our annual big events. I'm especially proud of all the hard work that has gone into the Third Annual Scully Marathons - this year we have 32 events planned in seven countries. All of our marathon coordinators are hard at work gearing up to make this year's marathon the best ever. So check out the website, buy a t-shirt, and make plans to attend a fun filled day in a city near you! You'll also notice a little something in this edition about that annual gathering of the Abbey called FEST. Thanks to the Colorado contingent that will be hosting this year, I can guarantee a grand time will be had by all. And then there will be the pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. MythArc anyone? God knows I've given up on it, but I do know there are still a few of you mythArc junkies out there skulking about in the shadows of the Abbey. In fact one of our own, Sister Blink, has even gone as far as trying to make sense out of the darn thing in detail. Check out her interpretation. Me, I just like the pictures on her site. Marathons to be featured in X-Files Official Magazine The marathons will be getting a little extra dose of publicity this year as I was interviewed on the OBSSE's charitable endeavors for the May edition Fan Focus section of the X-Files Official Magazine. Here's hoping it steers a few more fans our way. Personally, I think we'll be seeing a lot of local coverage in the way of newspapers and FOX affiliates this year as well. We'll bring you all the details as the marathons approach. |

It's finally here - all the details on the OBSSE social event of the year... In 1998, almost 50 faithful gathered in Pflugerville, Texas to witness bee stung heroines, see Lensie not making a connection, enjoy the hallway scene, learn the terror of the Consortium of the Quiet, and eat. A lot. Then in 1999 it was on to Beaver Village and the land of lard where 75 came to participate in a Prance-Off, break silverware on brownies, wear wimples, revel in Tammy's 10 seconds, and eat. Anything that wasn't nailed down. 2000 rolled around and this time 105 made their way to the wilds of Minnesota to see a little thing we called a "talent show", live in Camp Scully, throng at the presentation of the cheeses, hold their breath for 20 second pauses, and eat. Mostly ribs. Well, this year I am proud to announce that we are back and bigger and better than ever. The OBSSE is once again taking on Winter Park, Colorado. While I'm certain there will be OBSSE gatherings of some sort in the future, this will be the last time we organize an event of this magnitude. So, don't delay. Join your fellow sibliren for the now infamous annual OBSSE FEST. FEST will be held this year from July 26-29th at the Iron Horse Resort in Winter Park. We have room for no more than 120 attendees this year, so register early. All the information you need on FEST '01, the registration page, and the resort can be found on the OBSSEsed FEST '01 Information Page. See you there! |
Back by popular demand, Fest will host the 3rd Annual PI Action Figure Contest. A special thanks goes out to Sister Susan, who cinched this year's theme by posting on the planning mailing list, "ANYTHING but 'Maternity!Scully." That's right, this year's theme will be Maternity!Scully and will include the following four exciting categories: Dioramas (Prenatal or Postpartum) * The term "fabulous prizes" is to be loosely interpreted and may or may not include bottle openers and/or Lamborghinis. |
